THE RECORD BIN'S ALBUM & CD PROMOTIONS RINGS UP HOLIDAY CHEER FOR REGIONAL HOMELESS ANIMALS

During the month of November, both locations of Tom Lounges Record Bin -- Hobart and Michigan City -- once again hosted a “Grab Bag Fundraiser” to benefit Humane Society Of Northwest Indiana, located at 6100 Melton Road in Miller/Gary, Indiana.

On December 3rd, during Santa's annual visit to the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana, store owners Tom and Alice Lounges, along with Hobart manager Riley Mummey, visited the shelter and donated a check for $1,076.80 to HSNI Executive Director Freida White and HSNI Board President Jerry Kanies to brighten the holidays for the animals in their care.

"The notion is simple. Buy a grab bag and help the shelter save lives." said store manager Mummey. "Overstock albums and CDs along with albums donated to the store by members of the community who are downsizing, moving or who have had loved ones pass away, are cleaned and put into brown paper bags which are then sealed and put out to be sold." Each "mystery bag," contains 5 LPs or 5 CDs. A minimum $5 donation is requested.

This was the second such "Grab Bag" promotion done by the store to raise funds for the Humane Society animals and this holiday event tripled the money raised during the first such promotion done in June 2022.

"The response from the public to this second round of grab bags was really strong," said Mummey, who came up with the idea last Spring. "I'm sure doing it during the holiday season helped with that, but I hope the next one we do in a few months does even better!"

This latest November campaign was done in honor of the store’s late customer and friend, John Eisenhutt, Jr., a Northwest Indiana music fan and avid animal lover, who often helped connect animals in need with various animal rescues.

"John and I shared a passion for music and animal rescue, which created a bond between us," added Tom Lounges. "When John passed away in September 2022 at the much too young age of 66, his family donated John’s record collection to the Record Bin, knowing it would be in good hands."

To honor John and his legacy of helping homeless and abused animals, Record Bin used many of John’s albums for its latest “Grab Bag” campaign. Others were added to the store's ongoing "Red Tag" campaign, from which a percentage of red tagged LP sales are donated quarterly to HSNI.

THANK YOU to all the Bin customers who participated in this recent promotion. We hope to do another grab bag around Valentine's Day.

Those wanting to donate records that are in GOOD condition for our grab bag and red tag promotions can do so at either of our store locations -- call Hobart store for more details at (219) 945-9511.

This /November-December 2022 donation was given in memory of John and his beloved dog Roscoe, one of many animals who benefitted from John’s kindness and generosity over the years.
